Recodification

What is the Recodification?

The municipal code in Tallmadge, known as the Tallmadge Codified Ordinances, have undergone a thorough review to update the existing code and ensure compliance with general law, remove obsolete and/or redundant provisions and supplement with best practices and necessary additions. While updates to various individual portions of the code are routine, this is the first time in several decades that the entire code was subjected to a full review. Additionally, over the years, various ordinances have established fees, which are referenced throughout the code.  As a part of this project, fees have been consolidated into a single, convenient, and easy-to-find ordinance.

What was the Process?

The City of Tallmadge leadership team worked with experts at Municode powered by Civic Plus, a municipal codifier, to conduct a review of the entire code. The resulting recodification is being presented to Council and public comment is welcome.

Why Now?

The City always strives to provide quality services. In an effort to improve the quality of its municipal code, the City is moving to a new publisher, Municode, powered by Civic Plus. Tallmadge already uses Civic Plus to host its website. Moving the codified ordinances to the Municode platform will enhance searchability and create a more user-friendly experience. Additionally, Part 11, Planning and Zoning Code will be reincorporated into the overall code, which was previously not supported by the current codifier due to the graphics.
