Youth Basketball Tournaments
The Parks & Recreation Department is offering one-day tournaments for youth basketball teams. Tournaments are broken down by grade and gender. Each tournament has a 3-game guarantee and includes referees and scorekeepers. Find additional information here. Youth Basketball Tournaments
Youth Golf Lessons
The Parks & Recreation Department contracts with Cleveland Clinic Akron General Challenge Golf program to offer golf workshops in the spring and fall. All lessons are held at the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Challenge Golf Course,1596 Flickinger Rd, Akron, OH 44312.
Rookie Sports Club Programs
Rookie Sports Club offers programs for preschoolers through early elementary school. Programs include soccer, basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and more. Programs rotate seasonally, so visit our registration page for more information.
Youth Tennis Lessons
Tennis lessons are offered at the tennis courts next to the Rec Center in the summer. LaTuchie Tennis Center instructors lead the program.
Lego Club
Children ages 5-12 can build themed Lego creations that will be displayed at the Rec Center. Each month has a different theme.
Parent Date Night/Drop n Shop
Parents can enjoy a night out while the Rec provides babysitting for children ages 5-12. Each night includes dinner, playground time, games, and a movie.

Important Youth Sports Information
Concussion Information
Ohio's "Return to Play" Bill goes into effect April 26, 2013. The bill is designed to increase concussion awareness and recognition in parents, coaches, and officials in youth sports programs. All Tallmadge Recreation Department coaches and youth sports leaders will be certified in concussion awareness and recognition. View the Concussion Information for Parents (PDF).
Lindsay's Law Information
A new law went into effect August 1, 2017 called Lindsay’s Law, (Ohio Revised Code 3313.5310, 3707.58 and 3707.59). In accordance with this law, the Ohio Department of Health, the Ohio Department of Education, the Ohio High School Athletic Association, the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Cardiology and other stakeholders jointly developed guidelines and other relevant materials to inform and educate students and youth athletes participating in or desiring to participate in an athletic activity, their parents, and their coaches about the nature and warning signs of sudden cardiac arrest.
