Director of Finance

Mollie Gilbride is currently serving her third term as the Director of Finance for the City of Tallmadge. Prior to being elected as Director, she was the Assistant Director of Finance for nine years.

Mollie graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from The Ohio State University. She completed her Masters of Science in Accountancy at The University of Akron and is also a Certified Public Finance Officer. Mollie began her career in public service at the Office of the Auditor of the State of Ohio in 2000 where she audited the financial records of various government agencies throughout the state.


Responsibilities

The Director of Finance has the responsibility for all fiscal matters of the City, including but not limited to all appropriations matters, purchasing functions, approving all expenditures, certifying the availability of funds and maintaining fixed asset records and reporting them in accordance with state guidelines. 

The Director of Finance is also responsible for:

  • Collection and administration of the city's income tax
  • Compliance with state and federal financial reporting guidelines
  • Debt administration
  • Financial reporting in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Internal controls
  • Investments
  • Payroll processing and reporting
